US imposes anti-dumping duties on China-exported ribbons

Jul. 14, 2010 (China Knowledge) The US Department of Commerce yesterday announced that it will impose anti-dumping duties ranging from 0% to 247.65%, on ribbon products imported from mainland China because of their unfair prices, Reuters reported.
The Department also imposes not more than 4.37% anti-dumping duties on Taiwan-made ribbons and their related products.
According to the report, the Department's move is required by the 65-year-ribbon-maker Berwick Offray company in Pennsylvania State, who asked for the protection of the US government last year, when facing fierce competition from its Asian rivals.
The company iterated that its Chinese and Taiwan rivals are dumping the products at extremely low prices, and that the Chinese rival even enjoys the subsidies from its government.
In 2009, US imported US$13 million worth ribbons from mainland China and US$ 33.9million from Taiwan. |
